Publishing a BIMI record is not itself a certificate purchase. Some providers support self-asserted logos, while others require a mark certificate. Tools, hosting and staff time are separate costs.

A free checker is not the same as free certification. Likewise, a guided setup tool can be free while a later certificate purchase is paid. Read the provider’s terms and the actual order summary.
How do I avoid surprise costs?
Define your target inboxes, domains and artwork first. Ask for a quote covering that scope, including renewal and any assistance you need. Record internal work separately so you can compare the total effort.
