The direct answer
An expired certificate no longer supplies current valid evidence. Providers that require it may stop showing your BIMI logo, even if the DNS record and SVG remain available.
Which date should I monitor?
Use the validity dates in the actual issued certificate. A purchase agreement or multi-year service plan should not be assumed to mean one certificate remains valid for that whole period.
Record the issuer’s renewal process and begin early enough to complete any validation it requires. Name a backup contact so renewal does not depend on one person’s inbox.
How do I verify the replacement?
Check its domain coverage, artwork relationship and validity, publish the required public evidence and confirm that the BIMI record references the correct location. Test a representative message after the change.
Do not use an old cached logo as proof that renewal succeeded. Keep the certificate and retrieval checks with your deployment record, and update the next reminder from the new certificate’s actual dates.
